Open Classrooms at GSM - Our reflection of our educational philosophy ๐
At the German-American School Manhattan (GSM) our Open Classrooms are more than just a showcase of student work – they are an important reflection of our educational philosophy. ๐
By opening our classrooms to families, we create authentic opportunities for parents to experience inquiry-based learning in action. Students take ownership of their learning as they explain projects, demonstrate thinking processes, and share reflections on their growth.
This yearโs final Lower School Open Classrooms & IB PYP Exhibition highlighted the power of student agency across all age groups. From our Preschool learners engaging in play-based inquiry and collaborative exploration to our 5th graders presenting their culminating IB PYP Exhibition projects. Open Classrooms strengthen the partnership between school and home while making learning visible. They allow families to better understand how curiosity, creativity, communication, and critical thinking are fostered in a bilingual IB PYP environment every day.
